The Clinical Laboratory is one of the key sections under Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City (SBAHC) Medical Affairs. The Services of the section are provided as per the scope of services of SBAHC. They include Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Banking & Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, Clinical Microscopy and Point of Care Testing.

The goals of Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City Clinical Laboratory are expressed through the following commitments by its management, technical, and administrative staff:

• A commitment to be a vital and integral component of Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City to provide a patient care environment of excellence; to provide service to the community; and to serve as the primary setting for clinical investigation.

• A commitment to make a major contribution to excellence in patient care in this institution and throughout the Kingdom by providing accurate and precise analysis using modern methods and concepts with efficient sampling techniques and modern data handling procedures.

• A commitment to make the Clinical Laboratory and for the entire institution including training of students, clinical and laboratory personnel in the various aspects of clinical laboratory sections.

• A commitment to the application of modern techniques of management in our delivery of medical laboratory services in order that the patient and the public receive the maximum benefit from their expenditure of health funds.

• A commitment to perform all of these activities in an atmosphere of personal concern for each patient served, of mutual respect for our co-workers and of enthusiasm for learning, teaching, and scholarly investigation.

Majority of our tests are performed by state-of-the-art automation while manual procedures are performed by highly competent laboratory professionals guided by standard operating procedures (SOPs) based on Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI), Joint Commission International (JCI), and College of American Pathologists (CAP).
